MediaTek Launches Dimensity 7300 Series Processors
On May 30th, MediaTek officially launched the Dimensity 7300 series of processors, which are designed for folding screen devices and support dual-screen displays.
The Dimensity 7300 series utilizes TSMC’s 4nm process and has a 4+4 dual-cluster CPU architecture, including four Cortex-A78 cores (2.5 GHz) and four Cortex-A55 cores; the GPU is a Mali-G615 and is equipped with MediaTek’s HyperEngine gaming engine. MediaTek says that compared to the previous generation Dimensity 7050, power consumption has been reduced by 25 percent and frame rate and power efficiency have been improved by 20 percent for the same performance.
The 7300 series processors have a built-in AI processor, the APU 655, with support for new mixed-precision data types, a MediaTek MiraVision 955 mobile display processor with support for 10-bit true color WFHD+ displays, and an Imagiq 950 image processor with support for up to a 200-megapixel primary camera with noise reduction, portrait detection, and video HDR. In addition, the Dimensity 7300 series integrates a 3GPP R16 5G modem with triple-carrier aggregation for theoretical maximum downlink speeds of up to 3.27GB/s, UltraSave 3.0+ power-saving technology, and support for tri-band Wi-Fi 6E, 5G Dual SIM, Dual-SIM VoNR, Bluetooth LE Audio, and Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio.
Fitbit Releases Ace LTE Kids Watch
Fitbit, Google’s wearable brand, will launch a new watch for kids, the Fitbit Ace LTE, on May 29th, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and running the Wear OS operating system, with no support for always-on screen illumination.
The watch measures 41.04 x 44.89 mm, is 13.35 mm thick, weighs 28.03g, and has an OLED screen with Corning Gorilla 3 glass. Parents can know their child’s location in real time through the Fitbit app, which supports contact with up to 20 people, and the Fitbit Arcade service, which offers a variety of sports games. The built-in 328mAh battery is 60 percent charged in 30 minutes and fully charged in 70 minutes. The price is $229.95.
In addition, Google has also launched a Fitbit Ace Pass subscription, including unlimited LTE data and Fitbit Arcade games for $9.99 a month, with a 50 percent discount and a free wristband when you order before August 31st.
Free Users Get Access to Most of ChatGPT’s GPT-4o Features
OpenAI has announced that on May 30th, new GPT-4o features that were only available to paid users are now available to all ChatGPT users. These new features include data analysis, chart creation, visual support, file uploads, memory, and custom GPTs. However, there are still some limitations for free users, for example, free users can use custom GPTs but cannot create their own, and the system will automatically switch back to GPT-3.5 when the message or conversation limit is reached using GPT-4o.
XREAL Launches New Products
On May 30th, XREAL launched the XREAL Beam Pro AR Spatial Computing Terminal and the Xreal Air 2 Ultra AR glasses at the XREAL Spatial Computing Launch Event.
XREAL Beam Pro AR Spatial Computing Terminal is similar to a cell phone, but cannot make phone calls. It is equipped with a touch screen, camera and other components, and is capable of projecting 2D applications into 3D space, and together with XREAL AR glasses, it constitutes a “consumer-grade AR spatial computing complete body”.
The XREAL Beam Pro features a dual rear camera, a 4nm Snapdragon octa-core processor, a 4300mAh battery, 27W charging and dual USB-C ports. The device runs Android 14-based nebula OS and supports the installation of Android APKs. it goes on sale on May 31 at 20:00, with a 5G version coming in August.
The Xreal Air 2 Ultra AR Air 2 Ultra has a 52-degree field of view, 1080p monocular resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. 42 pixels per degree (PPD), and weighs 80 grams. The glasses offer full 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF) positional tracking in a sunglasses-style form factor, and not only can you watch TV or play flat games on a projected screen, but you can also run immersive AR apps with support for devices such as macOS, Windows PCs, Samsung Android phones, and the iPhone 15. It will be available in early July.
